We’re looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused Mortgage Closer to join our residential lending team. In this role, you’ll play an important part in guiding residential mortgage loans from approval through closing and funding.

The Mortgage Closer is responsible for preparing and reviewing closing documentation, coordinating with borrowers and third-party partners, ensuring timely funding, and maintaining compliance with bank, regulatory, and secondary market requirements.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare closing documents for HELOCs, home equity and construction loans, 1–4 family residential mortgages, and MPF loans as needed.
  • Order insurance and process Closing Disclosures within required regulatory timeframes.
  • Participate in loan closings and serve as a backup resource for Loan Officers.
  • Prepare loan disbursements, funding worksheets, loan blocks, and funding tickets.
  • Disburse funds for insurance, property taxes, payoffs, loan proceeds, and other closing requirements.
  • Manage escrow holdbacks and disburse funds when required work is completed.
  • Record Deeds of Trust and complete required HMDA-related processes.
  • Disburse loans and fund MPF loans through the FHLB.
  • Monitor closing and commitment dates to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Balance Closing Disclosures to fee worksheets and reconcile purchases with title companies.
  • Review cash required to close and identify discrepancies before closing.
  • Communicate with borrowers by phone and email to answer questions, manage expectations, and resolve issues involving insurance, title, documentation, and other closing requirements.
  • Schedule closing appointments and explain closing documents and processes to borrowers.
  • Audit closing files before closing to ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain accurate electronic loan files, prepare loans for filing, ship loan packages, and transmit documents using secure methods.
  • Prepare initial disclosures and Notices of Action within required compliance timeframes.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of residential real estate lending compliance requirements.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and provide updates on upcoming and completed closings.
  • Provide backup support for the Construction Draw process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience with residential real estate lending and the mortgage closing process preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage terminology, standards, and practices.
  • Working knowledge of the TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure (TRID) Rule required.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and loan files simultaneously.
  • Ability to prepare and close loan documents with a high level of accuracy while maintaining the confidentiality of customer information.
  • Ability to consistently meet established productivity, quality, and turnaround-time expectations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with a professional and customer-focused approach.
  • Self-motivated, independent, outgoing, professional, and goal-oriented.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organization, time management, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
  • Technology proficient, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet-based applications.
  • Ability to effectively use Encompass and navigate title company, insurance company, and other third-party portals.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and maintain proficiency with applicable systems and resources, including the Douglas County website.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule, including occasional after-hours work as needed.
