JOB SUMMARY                               

The Commercial/Construction Loan Processor is responsible for providing exceptional customer service. This is accomplished by ensuring all documentation, compliance requirements, and disbursements are handled accurately and efficiently. This role requires effective communication with the borrower, builders, and/or loan officer, from loan setup through draw fundings, and all loan activities during the building process. This is a critical role that requires strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment and a commitment to delivering a smooth, timely, and accurate loan process for our customers. 

This is a full-time, non-exempt position.  Typical hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the potential to work from home one day a week.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Generate timely and accurate loan documents for builder-financed residential construction loans, lot loans, small business and 1-4 family in-house rental property mortgages.
  • Order and review appraisals, credit reports, flood zone determination and other third-party verifications as needed.
  • Prepare loan documents in accordance with approved terms, West Gate Bank’s loan policy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Book loans into Jack Henry core banking system and handle loan funding and disbursements.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external parties (title companies, insurance providers, etc.) to support a timely and accurate closing experience for customers.
  • Process construction draw requests and ensures funds are disbursed in compliance with internal procedures.
  • Assist with post-closing servicing tasks, including loan payments, ticklers and exception items.
  • Resolve daily issues such as deposit account overdrafts, payment processing, advances, past due notes, and other customer service needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in loan processing.
  • Familiarity with construction lending practices, documentation, and disbursement procedures is highly desirable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of banking regulations, loan documentation, and collateral requirements related to residential construction lending.
  • Understanding of TRID (TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure) is preferred but not required. Willingness to learn is highly valued.
  • Ability to read and interpret credit reports, title work, appraisals, insurance documents, lien searches and construction budgets.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, documentation preparation, and loan system input.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple loans and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills to interact professionally with borrowers, builders, title companies and internal departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word); experience with loan origination or core banking systems preferred.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and follow up to resolve issues independently within established guidelines.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and comply with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline-driven environment.
