Agricultural Loan Officer

Summary
The Agricultural Loan Officer is a key position and responsible for building and managing relationships with current and prospective customers in the ag market; farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses to provide them with specialized loans and financial services for their business. This role involves financial analysis with a deep understanding of the agricultural industry, local market conditions, and a commitment to serving the rural community while adhering to bank policies and regulatory guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain and service existing loan relationships. Monitor loan performance, financial and collateral records and ongoing collection. Collect on past due loans as necessary to prevent losses to the bank. Ensure all loan files are current and meet all policy and regulatory requirements.
• Develop new business by actively calling on prospective borrowers by being visible and involved in the agricultural community.
• Prepare and present credit presentations for the Loan Committee when needed for approval.
• Participate in loan closings, check all documents for accuracy, ensure all customer signatures are collected and have a strong understanding of all closing package documents.
• Keep up to date with agricultural market trends, economic conditions, and relevant programs for the ag market.
• Actively market and cross-sell bank services to prospective customers.
• Ensure compliance with banking regulations and internal policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
• 3+ years of ag lending experience preferred (related experience considered).
• Strong communication, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and excellent computer skills.
• A passion for community banking and long-term career growth.
• Ability to analyze complex financial statements and thorough understanding of calculations of cash flow.
• Ability to work with a team and independently.
• High degree of tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
