JOB SUMMARY:
Performs various accounting and control functions for cash from banks, investments, advances, receivables, deposits, and miscellaneous assets and liabilities. Maintenance of accurate accounting records. Maintains and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts. Maintains and assists in the development of automated accounting systems and procedures. Prepares reports required by the company, its external auditors, the Federal Reserve, or other regulatory authorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. ACCOUNTING:
a. Assist in maintaining and reconciling the general and subsidiary ledger accounts.
b. Assist in maintaining, inventory, reporting, and recording on fixed assets.
c. Research, communicate and resolve differences in accounting records.
d. Assist in maintaining adequate accounting records and preparation of financial statements for subsidiaries.
e. Prepare and distribute financial and accounting reports as needed.
f. Support the preparation of reports for internal management and external regulatory agencies.
g. Maintain adequate accounting records and control for various accounting functions.
h. Maintain and assist in the development of automated accounting systems and procedures.
i. Backup other accounting functions as needed.
j. Assist with call report preparation.
k. Assist in audits and exams.
l. Assist in month-end and year-end close, as needed.
m. Other duties as assigned.
2. INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO:
a. Act as a backup to the bond & securities accountant by occasionally performing the following:
I. Maintaining, reconciling, and reporting on investment portfolio (e.g. securities, bonds, and warrants).
II. Assist in the coordination with Safekeeping Agent on delivery and funding of purchases, calls and sales.
III. Assist with the pledging of securities for deposit coverage of public funds.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications:
1. 4-year degree with accounting emphasis or experience equivalent.
2. Basic knowledge of bank organization and structure.
3. Good communication skills, both oral and written.
4. General areas of competency: decision making, dependability, development, environmental safety, evaluation skills, interpersonal skills, prioritizing, problem solving, selling skills, team skills and time management.
5. Professional appearance.
6. Self-sufficient/self-starting.
7. Ability to adjust to flexible hours.
8. Computer and Microsoft Excel/Word experience necessary.
9. Must be capable of working with and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Physical Requirements:
Light Work - exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Reaching, fingering, grasping, repetitive motions, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, lifting, climbing, kneeling, talking, hearing, pulling, pushing, thinking, concentrating and interacting with others.
