Position Overview
The Commercial Loan Officer is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of commercial banking relationships, including business loans, commercial real estate financing, and related banking services. This role requires a balance of business development, credit analysis, and relationship management to support the bank’s growth goals while upholding sound lending practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development:
- Proactively source and originate new commercial loan opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with business owners, investors, and community leaders.
- Represent the bank at community, networking, and industry events.
- Loan Structuring & Credit Analysis:
- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow to assess creditworthiness.
- Structure loan terms to meet customer needs while adhering to bank policies and regulations.
- Prepare and present credit memos for loan committee review.
- Portfolio Management:
- Manage an active portfolio of commercial loans, ensuring strong asset quality.
- Monitor borrower performance, maintain compliance with covenants, and mitigate risk.
- Handle renewals, modifications, and loan workouts as needed.
- Customer Service & Relationship Banking:
- Serve as a trusted advisor, offering comprehensive financial solutions.
- Collaborate with retail, mortgage, and treasury management teams to cross-sell bank products.
- Provide exceptional service to ensure long-term client satisfaction and loyalty.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, or banking.
- Strong knowledge of commercial loan products, SBA programs, and real estate financing.
- Proven track record of business development and portfolio growth.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- High level of integrity, judgment, and ability to work independently.
