The Mortgage Servicing Specialist – Secondary Market GSE is responsible for the day-to-day servicing and investor reporting of mortgage loans sold to the GSEs. This role ensures compliance with GSE servicing guidelines, accurate loan-level accounting, and timely remittance and reporting. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of GSE loan requirements and secondary market operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Monitor and service the portfolio of GSE loans, ensuring compliance with all applicable guidelines and timelines
  • Perform monthly investor reporting, remittance processing, and reconciliation of loan data in accordance with GSE standards
  • Resolve loan-level discrepancies related to payments, escrow, insurance, and tax disbursements
  • Process payoffs, assumptions, modifications, and other loan-level transactions in accordance with GSE servicing standards
  • Maintain loan servicing system data integrity and update records as required by investor guidelines
  • Prepare and submit required reports to the GSE, including but not limited to remittance reports, trial balances, and exception reports
  • Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., loss mitigation, escrow, collections) to ensure seamless servicing
  • Loss Mitigation / Default Servicing including QRPC, forbearance, workout, foreclosure
  • Assist in audit preparation and respond to GSE, internal, and regulatory audit requests
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to procedural updates for GSE loan servicing
  • Provide support for servicing transfers, pool certifications, and investor-related reconciliations
  • Process escrow disbursements

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide customer service assistance within the department as needed  
  • Assist and backup Loan Servicing duties as needed
  • Stay current on changes to GSE servicing guides and secondary market practices
  • Learn and remain informed of changes in Bank policies, procedures, and products 
  • Related projects and tasks as assigned

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or finance, OR equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years of loan servicing experience and investor reporting required
  • Experience in investor reporting for FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA & FHLB
  • Experience with Fiserv Premier Core Processing Systems
  • Familiar with escrow administration, loss mitigation, and default servicing as it relates to investor guidelines
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve personal and departmental goals
  • High level of accuracy with attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
