The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans through the Federal Home Loan Bank's Extra and Traditional channels. This role is also responsible for clients who are purchasing, building, or refinancing a home, as well as those seeking second mortgages or home equity lines of credit (HELOCs).

In addition to guiding borrowers through the mortgage process, the Mortgage Loan Officer actively develops and maintains strong relationships with real estate brokers, builders, and other referral sources. This position involves generating new business opportunities, expanding the mortgage customer base, and delivering an exceptional customer experience from initial contact through loan closing.

Pay and title to commensurate experience.

Essential Job Functions

  • Solicit residential mortgages through contact with realtors, builders, developers, and other industry professionals and referral sources.
  • Call on potential or existing clients to develop new business or retain existing business.
  • Evaluate and recommend loan products that align with clients’ financial goals.
  • Utilize our technology (Encompass and Surefire) to track marketing leads, communicate with existing and potential clients, and gather required documentation from clients and third parties in support of the loan approval decision.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of loans with borrowers.
  • Responsible for calculating and analyzing income, assets and liabilities, quoting and locking rates.
  • Prepares and reviews documents associated with the loan application to ensure all necessary forms have been completed and comply with underwriting, and secondary marketing guidelines. Final approval for LE’s and CD’s.
  • Review loan application package for completeness and accuracy, reconcile application against system input.
  • Keeps informed of trends and developments in the local real estate market.
  • Responsible for prompt, professional communication to customers, loan processors, closers and underwriters. Accountable to continue being engaged in the client relationship by being the point of contact for servicing needs after the loan closes.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations including, but not limited to HMDA, TILA-RESPA, and Fair Lending practices.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of demonstrated mortgage and or construction lending experience.
  • Experience, knowledge and training in financial statement and tax return analysis.
  • Knowledge of Secondary Market and construction loan processing.
  • Knowledge of related state and federal mortgage lending and compliance regulations, and other Bank lending policies.  TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure (TRID) Rule Knowledge required.
  • Skills in computer operation; bank core processing system; word processing, spreadsheet and mortgage software programs; ability to use mobile technology.
  • Advanced math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with bank personnel, as well as realtors, builders, and title companies.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to make effective presentations to prospective customers, existing customers, banking officials and community leaders.
  • Ability to be licensed nationally and in all states the company does business and maintain personal licensing and registration with National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS)
  • Ability to maintain acceptable levels of productivity and quality within established time frames.
