Position Summary:
The Mortgage Lending Assistant (MLA) delivers superior customer service to our clients while supporting the functions of our processing team and our loan officers. Receiving work directives from the Lead Processor and the Director of Mortgage, the MLA must balance multiple priorities that are vital to our fulfillment of secondary market mortgages and our in-house residential real estate consumer loan portfolio. Adherence to regulatory standards while increasing loan-level efficiency is critical. The MLA may assist with lead-to-contract and/or contract-to-closing duties.


Essential Job Functions
* Customer-Centric Approach: Demonstrate professionalism when engaging with internal and external customers.  Act with urgency and be responsive to client needs. Passionate about helping clients achieve their financial goals.

* Compliance Assurance: Stay vigilant of compliance timelines and loan-level risk factors. Escalate potential issues to Lead Processor and/or Director of Mortgage.
* Processing Support: As directed, send initial disclosures, loan estimates, closing disclosures, etc. to customers at the appropriate times. Order appraisals, title work, and/or other third-party services when required. Submit files to underwriting and clear underwriting conditions. Monitor key dates to ensure an on-time closing with no surprises.
* Relationship Management & Lead Management: Support the relationship building and sales efforts of the Lead Processor and the Mortgage Loan Officers. Sending customer and Center of Influence (COI) communications, when appropriate. Examples include but are not limited to: scheduling appointments, writing thank you cards, anniversary cards, servicing transfer notices, touch points with preapproved customers, tracking refinance opportunities, providing routine status updates to clients & realtors, and attending bank or industry events.
* Origination Support: Ensure an accurate URLA is obtained, run credit (when applicable), run AUS (as instructed), and validate all required follow-up documents with the objective of delivering a clean file to processing. 
* Marketing: Distribute compliance approved marketing materials, when appropriate (newsletters, flyers, etc)
* Execute core job responsibilities with only minor variation. Escalate more complex issues for advice and
resolution. Answer basic customer questions related to available loan products and the origination process.
* All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Education
* Minimum 2 years of experience in the mortgage industry, demonstrating a strong track record of goal attainment.
* Active NMLS credentials or the ability to obtain and maintain such credentials.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong attention to detail and highly organized, holding oneself accountable for accuracy and precision.
* Proven ability to collaborate across all organizational levels and manage multiple initiatives at once.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook)
* Prior experience in a third-party origination environment using the Encompass LOS, highly preferred.
* Associate’s degree in business, finance, or related field, preferred.
