JOB SUMMARY: 

A Mortgage Lender Trainee position teaches individuals with little to no mortgage experience how to become a Mortgage Lender built on providing exceptional customer service within PVC’s mortgage department. Trainees will be given opportunities to gain an understanding of mortgage operations and procedures by performing assigned projects and responsibilities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Collaborate with other Mortgage Lenders to create a personal job training schedule tailored to the trainee’s education, aspiration, and previous work background.
  2. Review training outline with Mortgage Manager to ensure optimum training opportunities.
  3. Engage in assigned training projects.
  4. Learn the fundamentals of the mortgage business.
  5. Gain an understanding of origination of in-house, secondary market home loans, and residential construction loans.
  6. Build relationships with customers and establish a referral network with Realtors, business and community leaders.
  7. Call on prospective customers.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Post high school education and two years financial industry experience preferred.  Previous sales experience helpful.
  2. Math proficiency and aptitude.
  3. General areas of competency:  decision making, dependability, development, environmental safety, evaluation skills, interpersonal skills, prioritizing, problem solving, selling skills, team skills and time management.
  4. Demonstrated record of achievement in social and/or extracurricular and leadership skills.
  5. Demonstrated aptitude to handle sensitive operational transactions and customer relationships.
  6. Professional appearance.
  7. Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  8. Effective oral and written communication skills (including telephone).
  9. Self-sufficient/self-starting.
  10. Ability to adjust to flexible hours.
  11. Strong interest in and ability to sell products and services.
  12. PC experience and knowledge of mortgage loan origination software and automated underwriting systems preferred.
  13. Deposit Platform experience helpful.
  14. Must be capable of working with and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
